The Georgia Folklore Collection contains field recordings of Georgia folk musicians made by George Mitchell, Art Rosenbaum, and other volunteers that were part of the Georgia Folklore Society. Over one thousand hours of music, interviews, and storytelling includes rare and lively performances by the Tanners, the Rev. Howard Finster, and the McIntosh County Shouters, a group from the Georgia coast whose members continue the musical traditions of their slave ancestors.

Biographical History The field collector, Art Rosenbaum, is a professor of art at the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. He was born in 1938 and received his degrees from Columbia University (A.B. 1960, MFA 1961). He also studied at the Institut d'Art et d'Archéologie in Paris on a Fulbright grant in 1964-65, and has exhibited his drawings and paintings extensively.
